Role Overview We're looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our ECS Engineering team. This is a senior individual contributor role with no line management responsibilities, focused on technical leadership, architecture, innovation, and engineering excellence.

  • You'll influence technology strategy across multiple teams, represent engineering on architectural forums, and help shape the future of AI-powered customer experiences.
  • This is a hybrid role being 40% office based in Nottingham.
  • What You'll Do
  • Lead the design and evolution of scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions across multiple teams.
  • Act as a technical authority for front-end architecture, helping define and drive our front-end engineering strategy.
  • Represent engineering in architecture boards and technical governance forums
  • Champion engineering best practices across code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and software delivery.
  • Embed AI-driven engineering practices, helping teams leverage AI effectively throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive experimentation, optimisation, and testing strategies to improve customer outcomes and business performance.
  • Mentor and coach engineers through technical leadership, collaboration.
  • Remain hands-on when required, deep in the detail, and leading by example.
