THE ROLE As a Software Engineer you will work in a software development team building and maintaining Certinia applications using the full technology stack. You will mainly interact within your own team which consists of 4-5 software engineers, an engineering team lead, a product manager, a user experience designer, and a content creator. You may occasionally need to interact with other teams such as support and consulting, helping to resolve customer reported issues. In your team you will design software solutions, following Kanban methodologies. You will write code to create new features, extend existing features, fix customer reported issues and fix internally detected issues. You will manually test solutions. You will be involved in code reviews within your team, where through identifying issues and asking questions, the team will strive for high quality code. You will be required to present working solutions in product area reviews. You will support and coach less experienced team members. During your first few months, you will combine hands-on development work with training, following a learning path that helps you develop the skills needed to become a proficient engineer working on the Salesforce platform. You will learn about and follow Certinia’s software development standards. You will be encouraged to make suggestions that promote improved code quality and efficient working practices. You will actively collaborate and will continuously seek to make improvements to how you and the team work making suggestions in review meetings. RESPONSIBILITIES * Designing software solutions * Following and influencing Certinia’s coding standards * Writing code that delivers new capabilities and extends existing capabilities * Diagnosing customer reported software issues and resolving them * Designing and writing automated tests * Testing yours and others code * Peer reviewing code and help content * Seeking to improve methodology * Supporting less experienced team members * Supporting colleagues and other teams when needed WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE * Experience using programming languages * An enthusiasm and appetite for well-written code * An ability to work with little support or supervision * Experience of enterprise development frameworks * An understanding of architectural and software patterns * An ability to collaborate in a team * Good communication skills * Determination and resourcefulness WHAT ELSE WOULD BE GREAT * Degree level in Computer Science or similar subject * Experience developing on the Salesforce platform
