Senior Software Engineer, Java - Content Team
Job description
About the role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a newly formed team focused on accelerating the capabilities of the Nin*** platform through manifest-driven development. This team is being built from the ground up and has ambitious goals to remake how Nin*** delivers features — with a direct, visible impact on customer value. The team's mission is to build flexible, customizable experiences that let customers and MSPs tailor the platform to their own workflows — from UI components to deeper integrations. We're still early in this journey, with a lot of the vision ahead of us rather than behind. If you're excited about designing extensible systems that put more power in users' hands, this is a great place to have that impact. Location – We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option. We hire the best software engineers, but experience in our stack can’t hurt: Nin*** is built on Java, Kotlin, Python, C++, Golang, and Postgres, supporting millions of user endpoints and running as a scalable cloud service in AWS. Knowing large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design, and client-server architecture will help you. What you'll be doing Manifest-driven development to extend Nin*** platform capabilities. Python development to create workers that extend Nin***’s value via third-party integrations. Java and Kotlin backend development to expose Nin*** platform functions for extensibility. Collaborate with the AI workflow, server, and platform teams to achieve the team’s mission. Participate in architecture and design reviews to build high-quality software that is scalable and API-first. Troubleshoot production issues across the technical stack using logs, metrics, and traces. Other duties as needed. About you Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience. 10+ years of experience in Java software development for product applications, or equivalent, with solid expertise in Kotlin. Python experience is a plus but not required — we value adaptable engineers who can work across languages as needed. 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems. Experience leveraging AI tooling to accelerate software development. Experience working on systems at scale and finding solutions to scale systems further. Working knowledge of a breadth of OOP design principles. Expertise in scaling data structures and object-oriented design. Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using frameworks like Jersey or Spring. Relational database design and development experience. Experience with both client- and server-side development for responsive messaging. Caching systems expertise; experience with Redis will make you a standout candidate. Expert knowledge of quality testing practices. About Us Nin*** unifies IT to simplify work for nearly 40,000 customers in 140+ countries. The Nin*** Unified IT Operations Platform delivers endpoint management, autonomous patching, backup, and remote access in a single console to improve efficiency, increase resilience, and reduce spend. Nin*** is obsessed with customer success and has retained a 98% customer satisfaction score for more than 5 years. What you'll love We are a collaborative, kind, and curious community.
