The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting applications and driving design and delivery across multiple domains, helping shape Met***'s enterprise data landscape. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in Big Data Platforms including Hadoop and Azure Cloud platforms, with rich experience in operating enterprise-scale data solutions. Functions as a lead to provide systems analysis, troubleshooting support, technical/data design, coding, unit testing, and end-to-end data solution. Ability to lend oversight, enforce guidelines, and support other teams with designing end-to-end solutions. Exhibits technical subject matter expertise in Big Data technologies including Azure Cloud platform and Hadoop framework. Bachelor’s degree or 4-year college degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field required. 5 + years of experience in data engineering. Well versed with Cloud Azure platform skills including most of the following: Azure Data Factory, Azure functions, Databricks, Cosmos DB, Synapse, etc. Strong SQL knowledge and strong coding skills in Scala or equivalent. Well versed with Agile Scrum SDLC framework. Proven ability to lead technical teams and collaborate with cross-functional partners. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Experience working in large, global enterprises or regulated industries (financial services, insurance, healthcare). Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks. Working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, YARN, Spark, HIVE, NoSql DBs (Hbase etc.), Kafka, etc. Technical skill sets around Shell Scripts, Python, SOLR, JANUS, Hbase. Working knowledge of streaming services including Nifi and Event hub. Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office. The expected salary range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
