Engineering Operations Technician

Job summary

The Role Chemify is expanding its Engineering Operations team to support the development, commissioning, and maintenance of robotic chemistry platforms across our Chemifarms in Glasgow and beyond. This lab-based role, reporting to the Engineering Operations Manager, involves close collaboration with software engineers, chemists, and automation specialists. Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Technical
• Commission and integrate new robotic hardware into production.
• Develop and optimise automated synthesis workflows.
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on chemistry platforms and lab instruments.
• Use MaintainX to log faults, schedule work, and track asset health.
• Create and contribute to Engineering Operations SOPs.
• Support chemistry operations via troubleshooting reactions and monitoring laboratory processes.
• Operational & CrossFunctional
• Collaborate with chemists, automation engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, platform reliability, and uptime.
• Support service delivery by minimising downtime and improving response times.
• Contribute to wider company initiatives.
